When you can’t say it any better, just reblog it.
From elizaskinner.net, a fantastic comedian offers a passionate response to recent events:

After the dust from the presidential election cleared, us sane straight folks looked around for the gay unicorns on our arc of Hope and Change, they were no where to be found. Prop 8 in California, Prop 102 in Arizona, and Florida Amendment 2 – all opposing gay marriage – all passed in state elections. I think that, just like the 2004 election, most of us with brains hadn’t worried too much about these initiatives passing because, like Bush, they seemed too retarded for people to actually vote for. Again, we were wrong.
I did a lot of research on line to try to figure out why anyone would support this kind of legislature. The argument seems to be ”Gay marriage undermines the value of marriage”. That makes no sense. How does one person’s marriage reflect or define the quality or meaning of someone else’s? I mean, do people opposed to gay marriage also equally oppose marriage between criminals? Mentally challenged people? Celebrities? Are they ok with any “undermining” those types of marriages might do? You know what it is? CRAZY. And bigotted.
And that’s the real truth – there IS no rational argument against gay marriage. It is biggotry, plain and simple. It is dirty and ugly and anyone who supported any of these propositions should be ashamed of themselves. I don’t care if you’re my friend, my family, or my fan. If you support this, Fuck You. I can’t even be funny about this – it makes me sick.
Prop 8 goes against everything that the United States of American was founded on. This country was supposed to be a haven where people could pursue life liberty and happiness. Everybody. Not just white people, not just straight people.
The up side is that the gays are fucking OVER it now, big time. There have been Prop 8 protests all over the country over the past week. 104 retired military leaders (many of them gays and lesbians) just signed a statement calling for an end to the military’s “don’t ask-don’t tell” policy – pushing to allow gay military personnel to serve openly. It seems that the gay community here in the US is not going to take it anymore. Good.
This last election was a wake up call – a reminder of what America is capable of when we work for change, and that there is still a lot of ugliness that needs changing. Yes we can.

Well, not me. But my namesake, who was running as the Republican candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly, lost in his bid to represent the 51st District.
This College Republican supports Russell for Assembly...ok not really.Despite the endorsement of the Wisconsin State Journal, the support of the now-infamous College Republicans, and naming his oldest daughter Reagan, we got walloped by incumbent Steve Hilgenberg and his extremist liberal positions on cheese and the Packers.
I guess Hilgenberg’s time on the local school board, service in Vietnam, and 30+ years age advantage all played into his hands. Typical liberal bias.

One of these guys was in Vietnam.
Well, at least we’ve still got the Packers. Russell in 2010!
PS- No word on the farm sign. It’s going to be a sad Christmas around the other Russell house if there’s no 40-foot sign on the barn.

The latest find, from the A-Train:
While the penis-on-face is a proven penis graffiti technique, and can be hilarious when done correctly, I find this work tired and uninspiring.
First of all, why is the penis drawn on only one doctor, and not all four? And why is it drawn on the only female doctor in the ad? The artist was clearly going for an in-your-face penis joke, but fails miserably in creating anything other than a sexist cliche.
While the target is prime (does anyone actually watch this show?) the execution is lacking originality, and I find it to be misogynistic and bland.
Personally, I would have gone with penis-shaped stethoscopes, or maybe even penis-neck-tattoos.
This artist should quit the business.
RATING: 1 Penis (out of a possible 10)

I’ll get back to bathroom humor and viral videos shortly, but I wanted to comment on something I heard on the radio this morning that I found pretty scary.
While flipping through the AM Dial around 10AM, I happened upon 970AM, a right-wing talk radio station that makes its home here in NYC. During a long and hate-filled rant, commentator Mike Gallagher (any relation to the watermelon-smashing comic I wonder?) provided an account of a news story he heard about how the Illinois State Lottery Pick 3 numbers yesterday were 6-6-6.
In Mike’s pathetic little world, this occurance served to prove correct all of the internet nut-jobs who have been hailing President-Elect Barack Obama as the Antichrist. He went on to take calls from people who agreed with this twisted logic, and repeatedly proclaimed that this event was demonstrable proof of Obama’s status as an Antichrist figure straight from the book of Revelation.
It’s true that the lottery numbers in Illinois were 6-6-6 yesterday–although a Google News Search reveals that this was not a story picked up by ANY news organization, but rather posted on a religious blog.
Another Google Search for “Obama Antichrist” reveals numerous websites offering typical internut psychobabble about how Obama includes secret messages in his TV ads and strange mathematical calculations that demonstrate the mark of the beast on Obama.
Free speech is sacred, and minority opinions–however absurd–deserve a place in our internet vernacular. But for a national radio figure like Mike Gallagher to give voice to these dangerous and (let’s be frank) psycotic accusations on his radio show is extremely irresponsible to say the least.
And especially now that Obama is the President-Elect, to broadcast this horrifying class of slander (which could endanger Obama’s safety in a very real way) should be marked Anti-American, bigoted, and beneath the standards of broadcast on the public airwaves.
Disagreeing with the President is one thing (God knows I disagree with almost everything George Bush stands for) but this crosses a line. Republicans have unsuccessfully attacked Obama on his policies, his background, and his relationships. But to call him the Antichrist? And on national radio?
C’mon guys, that’s disgusting. Mike Gallagher should be taken off the air and sent back to the cave he crawled out of.
